Monte Toro

Monte Toro —El Toro on maps— is the highest point in Menorca, rising above the village of Es Mercadal. At the top stands the sanctuary of the Mare de Déu del Toro, and from up there you see the village below and the island's countryside stretching to the sea.

It stands at about three hundred and fifty metres above sea level. The sanctuary stands a few metres from the top, which is reached by a winding road that you can see from above.

It is less than two kilometres as the crow flies from the centre of Es Mercadal. For the village it is the landmark of the landscape: the height at whose foot it lies, and the viewpoint from which it can be seen whole.
