Son Saura: clear, shallow water over flat rock, with the sand and the low pine woods beyond (Ciutadella, Menorca)

Beaches

Son Saura

Son Saura is a beach on the south coast of Menorca, in the municipality of Ciutadella; on maps the sand also appears as Bellavista. Very clear, shallow water, a shore of flat rock and, behind, a low strip of pine woods. It should not be confused with the Arenal de Son Saura on the north coast, in Es Mercadal, which is Son Parc.

The outline recorded in OpenStreetMap measures three hundred and thirty metres from end to end, at the head of an open bay. Right beside it is another beach, es Banyul, less than four hundred metres away, and the two share the same inlet.

It is five hundred metres from es Talaier and less than two kilometres from Cala en Turqueta, on the same stretch of Ciutadella's south coast, and almost ten kilometres from the town. Like the other coves along this stretch, it is a place you go to, not one you live in.
