Colònia de Sant Jordi

Colònia de Sant Jordi belongs to the municipality of Ses Salines and is its settlement by the sea, at the southern tip of Mallorca. It began as a fishing village and keeps that character: low houses, a small harbour and the sea a few steps from any street. Boats leave its quay for the Cabrera National Park, whose outline can be seen on the horizon.

Life revolves around the promenade that follows the coast from the harbour to the lighthouse, between small coves of sand and rock. To the west the long sands of Es Trenc begin, and to the east the coast continues towards Es Carbó. In summer the village fills with visitors; the rest of the year it returns to a quiet rhythm of neighbours and evening walks.

Supply is limited and concentrated in apartments and houses near the sea, many of them bought as second homes. As a small settlement surrounded by protected land, there is barely any new building plot, and that makes each home on the market a scarce one.

For those who put sea and calm above city services: a second home, a retirement by the coast or a base for sailing and exploring Cabrera. Palma is a little under an hour away by car.
